The mono- and bi-metallic flower-like infinite coordination polymer were synthesized by simple coordination-modulation method using sodium acetate as capping agent. The structure was characterized using X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Based on a series of comparative experimental results, we have deduced that the possible formation mechanism of these Dy-flower-like microspheres via a three-step process.

Nanoparticles continuously aggregate into 2D nanoflakes owing to the Ostwald ripening, 3.
