Synthesis, crystal structure, and magnetic properties of two bent trinuclear Cu(II)/Ni(II) complexes of ligands derived from N-acyl-salicylhydrazides

The chelating modes of the ligands around the Cu(II)/Ni(II) centers are the same. They act as pentadentate ligands to metal ions with bidentate to the central metal ion and tridentate to the adjacent terminal metal ions. The steric effects of the N-acyl groups can influence the structure of the trinuclear Ni(II) complexes from linear to bent.
