Phenylpropanoids from Paspalum atratum (Poaceae)

• This is the first phytochemical investigation of Paspalum atratum Swalen.
• Six phenylpropanoids were isolated for the first time from the genus Paspalum.
• The major compound isolated from the ethanol extract was rosmarinic acid (4.4%).
• NMR data for cis- and trans-3-O-coumaroylquinic acids are given.
