Reactor modeling of sorption enhanced steam methane reforming

In this paper a rector model is presented for a SE-SMR reactor. The reactor model comprises simplified mathematical representation of the flow regime, differential equations for mass and heat transfer, sub-model for chemical reaction kinetics and absorption equilibria. The model was used to investigate various operational modes for the reformer as well as for comparison of the reformer performance with use of various sorbents (Li4SO4,Na2ZrO3,CaO). A semi-empirical model for apparent reaction kinetics of dolomite was developed based on thermogravimetrical analysis whereas the reaction kinetics for the other types of sorbents was taken from literature.
