Purely imaginary eigenvalues from homoclinic tangencies

We prove that every orientation preserving surface diffeomorphism with homoclinic tangencies can be C1 approximated by diffeomorphisms exhibiting periodic points with purely imaginary eigenvalues. This improves a result in Morales (2009) [9].
