Edge directional 2D LMS filter for infrared small target detection

► We introduce an edge directional 2D LMS filter for small target detection. ► The proposed method takes advantage of surrounding prediction pixels. ► The adaptive region-dependent nonlinear step size is presented. ► This technique is adaptively applied to background region and small target region. ► Background region with many edges can be predicted through this technique.
