Electrodeposition and hard magnetic properties of Co–Pt films in comparison to Fe–Pt films

Co–Pt thin films were prepared using single bath electrodeposition. The deposition process was analysed using current-potential and electrochemical quartz microbalance (EQCM) measurements. As-deposited films were annealed to achieve the L10L10 phase. Under optimised conditions, a maximum coercivity of 1.17 T and a maximum remanence of 0.7 T are achieved. The δJδJ analysis of the hysteresis loops reveals exchange coupling in the annealed film. Deposition process, phase formation, and magnetic properties are discussed in comparison to electrodeposited Fe–Pt films.
