The magnetostatic interaction in a pure dipole system with constant magnetization is studied. The system consists of identical hexagonal close packed monoatomic layer of dipoles stacked according to some rule. The influence of the interlayer/intralayer atomic distance ratio (c/a)(c/a) on the dipolar configuration and stability is analyzed. It is found that for the ideal ratio the stacking sequence is irrelevant; however, it becomes significant when its value is sufficiently small, and the sequence type affects the dipolar field and the anisotropy energy. The most stable in-plane configuration is that of the rhombohedral stacking 3R3R, while the stacking showing a lower energy difference between the axial and planar magnetization configuration is the hexagonal close packed 2H2H. The dependence of the magnetostatic anisotropy with layer thickness is also studied.
