Solitons in a (N+1)(N+1)-level medium

The Maxwell–Schrödinger equations for a generalized V-type system with N+1N+1 atomic levels are solved exactly. Three types of coupled soliton solutions are given explicitly. These optical solitons can have a propagating velocity much less than the light speed in vacuum.
