Non-central potentials related to the Lie algebra u(4)

The algebraic method is used to investigate non-central Hamiltonians belonging to a class of potentials that exhibit an 'accidental' degeneracy in the energy spectrum. We explain the accidental degeneracy of the energy levels by the u(4) potential algebra.
