Non-uniform RKKY magnetism in thin wires

Analytical mean-field continual model of RKKY (Ruderman-Kittel-Kasuya-Yosida) magnetism in thin (nanosized) wires is considered. The spatial distribution of the magnetization is described by the nonlinear integral equation. Its solution delivers the radial magnetization distribution that occurs to be not only highly non-uniform but significantly non-monotone as well. The concrete form of the distribution depends on the wire radius, the interaction length, and concentrations of magnetic impurities and itinerant charge carriers. Results could be used for describing properties of nanosized systems based on the diluted magnetic semiconductors.
