Measurement of the off-diagonal geometric phase of a mixed-state photon via a Franson interferometer

A geometric phase can be attached both diagonal and off-diagonal matrix elements of the density operator under parallel transport unitary operation. Here an experimental scheme is presented to measure the off-diagonal geometric phases for the mixed states of single photon using Franson-type interferometer. And two typical imperfections in real experimental condition are discussed.
