Effect of MTII on food intake and brain c-Fos in melanocortin-3, melanocortin-4, and double MC3 and MC4 receptor knockout mice

▶ Both MC3R and MC4R knockout mice show partial anorectic responses to MTII. ▶ Fos induced by MTII reduced in PVN of MC3R knockout and in AP of MC4R knockout. ▶ Mice with knockout of both receptors show neither anorexia nor induced Fos. ▶ Suggests dissociation of brain region and MC receptor subtype in feeding behavior.
