► We assess the efficacy and safety of ATO combined with ATRA in the treatment of APL. ► ATO/ATRA improves the overall outcome of newly diagnosed and relapsed APL patients. ► ATO/ATRA is an effective treatment all APL patients previously untreated with ATO.
