Chromosomal aberrations in the bone marrow cells of mice induced by accelerated 12C6+ ions

► 220 MeV/u 12C6+ ions is 1.5 times more effective than X-rays in inducing chromosomal aberration in bone marrow cell. ► The ratio of dose averaged liner energy transfer is approach the RBE. ► 12C6+ ions could induce severe mitosis delay. ► The cell cycle is not recovered 72 h following irradiation.
