A correlation between Vickers Hardness indentation values and the Bond Work Index for the grinding of brittle minerals

► Vickers Hardness (VH) of minerals is shown to be related to their elasticity. ► A relation between mineral VH and Bond Work Index (BWI) values has been found. ► A tentative mathematical relation the VH of minerals and their BWI is presented. ► The VH test is proposed as an alternative for determining BWI values of minerals.
