- NURSING SCHOOL CURRICULA do not typically include a perioperative nursing course, but implementing innovative teaching strategies and using inviting behaviors during a perioperative elective course can help nursing students develop an interest in becoming perioperative nurses.
- IN A PERIOPERATIVE NURSING ELECTIVE course taught in Abilene, Tex, one faculty member used principles of invitational theory to improve the course experience for nursing students.
- AT THE END OF THE COURSE, students completed a 20-item survey about the invitational learning experience. Data reflected a high level of success with the course techniques used, and student responses indicated that they learned more than they had expected to and would recommend the course to other students.
