Chronically ill adults' educational needs on self-medication

The present study, which was conducted in Jordan, examined chronically ill adults' educational needs concerning the self-administration of medications. The study utilized a cross-sectional design. Five hundred adults were recruited from primary health centers. Chronically ill adults needed education on medication benefits, odds ratio (OR)= 4.23, 95% confidence interval (95% CI) = (3.07–5.81), p = .00; side effects, OR = 2.25, 95% CI = (1.48–4.28), p = .00; and management of side effects, OR = 2.20, 95% CI = (1.35–4.10), p = .00. Nurses, physicians, and pharmacists need to collaborate to ensure that patients receive adequate education on their prescribed medications.
