Trends in Laparoscopic Electrosurgery

In modern gynecology, a laparoscopic approach to surgery is replacing laparotomy. Most conditions for which open abdominal surgeries are indicated can be performed laparoscopically. These conditions include uterine bleeding, pelvic pain, endometriosis, uterine fibroids, uterine malformations, adnexal disease, adhesions, pelvic floor defects, urinary incontinence, and gynecologic malignancies. Knowledge of principals of energy use contributes to efficiency, efficacy, and safety of surgical procedures.
