The eighth edition of the IPC

IPC8 incorporates both the usual technical revisions to improve the searching in certain subject matter areas and also the major reforms which have been proceeding in parallel for this edition. This article introduces the revised and reformed IPC and provides some statistical data, as well as listing new and substantially revised subclasses. It also covers the form of the paper and electronic forms of IPC8, information on supporting documents such as the Catchwords Indexes and the IPC Guide, and future revision and reform work.
