Microdroplet-based multiplex PCR on chip to detect foodborne bacteria producing biogenic amines

► A microfluidic platform to detect biogenic amines production is presented. ► The amplification reaction is performed directly in a real food matrix. ► The assay is carried out in about 30 min and requires only 150 nL of sample. ► The developed method enables the detection of down to 15 bacterial cells.
