The impact of an improved sugarcane farming system on chemical, biochemical and biological properties associated with soil health

▶ The chemical and biological status of sugarcane and pasture soils was compared. ▶ Soils under grass pasture had nearly twice as much C and N as cropped soils. ▶ The biology of sugarcane soils was poor relative to soils under pasture. ▶ Some soil properties improved after 5-7 years of a new sugarcane farming system. ▶ This response indicated an improvement in soil health.
