The present study aims to highlight the importance of the consulting activity in identifying and defining the specific problems of the population in agriculture, solving alternatives, choice of solutions and their implementation. Based on these considerations, we initiated a study in Călărasi county, on a sample of 32 communes both among the rural population, having as technique of data collection, „door to door” discussions and among the leaders of the rural communities using interview technique. The interview on both levels was conducted based on a list of predetermined questions, 8 questions for the population and 12 questions for the leaders, with open response, which allowed freedom of expression of the interviewed person. The questions aimed at identifying the needs that respondents consider priority for the community, how they want to solve them, and the degree to which they consider that they might involve in solving the local problems. A fiche with personal data was filled in for each interviewed person.Processing and analyzing the data, outlines the need for the consultant intervention of socio- economic targeting, which is a real challenge in persuading and train the population in the rural area, involved or not in the agricultural activity, in order to develop the skills and incomes for goods administration, in order to adapt to the challenges imposed by the agricultural production, household, family and socio-economic relations. The success of the socio - economic consulting activity is knowing the area were the consulting services are provided, but also the consultant notoriety among them, because people follow those they trust in.
