Sucrose feeding of Cut Dendrobium inflorescences promotes bud opening, inhibits abscission of open flowers, and delays tepal senescence

► Inclusion of sugars + antimicrobial compounds in the vase solution of cut Dendrobium inflorescences promoted floral bud opening. ► It also delayed tepal senescence and the abscission of open flowers. ► The effects might be due to improved osmotic pressure and a decrease in ethylene sensitivity.
