Characterization of a new highly mosquitocidal isolate of Bacillus thuringiensis - An alternative to Bti?

► We have isolated a new Bacillus thuringiensis strain S2160-1. ► It was found to have a comparable mosquitocidal activity to Bti. ► Four novel cry-type genes of cry30Ea, cry30Ga, cry50Ba and cry54Ba were cloned. ► Bt S2160-1 could be applied to mosquito control as a potential alternative to Bti.
