Spectrum of the Laplacian and Riesz transform on locally symmetric spaces

We assume that the discrete part of the spectrum of the Laplacian on a non-compact locally symmetric space is non-empty and we prove that the Riesz transform is bounded on Lp for all p in an interval around 2.
