Strict unimodality of q-binomial coefficients

We prove the strict unimodality of the q  -binomial coefficients (nk)q as polynomials in q  . The proof is based on the combinatorics of certain Young tableaux and the semigroup property of Kronecker coefficients of SnSn representations.
