Contact Stresses: Analysis by Finite Element Method (FEM)

This paper presents a study by the Finite Element Method (FEM) of the contact tensions between two bodies and the results obtained are compared with the calculations obtained on basis of the relations of the theory of H. Hertz.The analyzed situations are: two spherical bodies in contact with their radii R1 and R2, respectively, a spherical body of radius R on a flat surface.
