Pre-processing of data coming from a laser-EMAT system for non-destructive testing of steel slabs

► A Laser-EMAT non destructive test system for steel slabs produces a huge amount of noisy data. ► Data reduction is applied to limit the time required for defect detection. ► Two de-noising techniques are proposed and compared. ► The Wavelet-based de-noising outperforms the Split Spectrum Processing approach. ► A user-friendly software has been implemented to visualize and pre-process the data.
