Dynamic pooling of make-to-stock and make-to-order operations

► We model a hybrid system for make-to-stock (MTS) and make-to-order (MTO) operations. ► We propose a congestion-based switching policy between MTS and MTO operations. ► This is the first attempt to use a multi-server queueing model for such a hybrid system. ► The hybrid system can improve customer service for both MTS and MTO operations. ► The hybrid system can reduce both the MTS inventory and the MTO queue.
