Simultaneous control of production, repair/replacement and preventive maintenance of deteriorating manufacturing systems

► We determine optimal control policies for a degraded manufacturing system. ► The system under study is subject to random machine failures and repairs. ► A replacement renews the machine while a repair brings it to a degraded state. ► Our approach is based on stochastic dynamic programming with semi-Markov processes. ► The repair/replacement policy is combined to production and preventive maintenance.
