Euler deconvolution is a semi-automatic interpretation technique that is used to provide estimates of source locations from aeromagnetic and gravity data. In 2001 Mushayandebvu and coauthors introduced an extended Euler deconvolution that estimated both the dip and susceptibility-thickness product of thin dyke models, and the dip and susceptibility of contact models. However, the method is complex and can be difficult to implement in practise. An alternative approach is suggested here, which estimates the dip and susceptibility information in a simple and robust manner using the Hough transform, and which additionally provides a simple measure of the solution reliability. Matlab source code for the application of the method to the thin dyke model is available from the IAMG server at www.iamg.org.
