Hydrogel scaffolds play vital roles in tissue engineering via providing appropriate microenvironments for cell adhesion, proliferation, and functioning. In this paper, a high-resolution 3D bioprinting system was developed for precise deposition of biomaterials mixed with cells, and thus, freeform fabrication of cell-laden hydrogel scaffolds. The feasibility of the system was validated by experiments. High cell viability was presented in live/dead assay. Cell aggregation and migration were observed after cultured for 2, 7, 14, and 21 days. Results indicated that the system had potential for fabricating cell-laden hydrogel scaffolds which could maintain high cellular activities.
