BERTHA - A Flexible Learning Factory for Manual Assembly

Learning Factories are implemented for multiple applications offering opportunities for practical research and training. The majority of learning factories is designed for very special purposes as training of lean methods and manufacturing logistics. The bime developed and installed an adaptable Learning Factory called BERTHA that is capable to run various manual assembly scenarios typical for special-purpose machine assembly for example. The paper introduces the Learning Factory BERTHA, its current application scenarios and concepts to support participants and trainers to evaluate learning outcomes. Finally, the paper describes one sequence of a scenario and the application of evaluation concepts.
