Development of road safety performance indicators for trauma management in Europe

► Safety performance indicators for country trauma management systems were developed. ► Data were collected and the indicators estimated for 21 European countries. ► Country comparisons were conducted and combined estimates produced. ► Groups of countries with various levels of the system's performance were recognized. ► Estimating TM SPIs is not an easy but a realizable task for the majority of countries.
