Taking account of the role of safety on vehicle choice using a new generation of discrete choice models

► Hybrid choice models are a generalization of standard discrete choice. ► We aim at understanding safety as a cognitive factor of vehicle consumers. ► We use hybrid choice to model vehicle consumers' preferences for safety. ► The attitudinal component of safety appears as a relevant choice attribute. ► A general choice model for the correct treatment of vehicle safety is proposed.
