Comparing electroantennogram and behavioral responses of two Pseudacteon phorid fly species to body extracts of Black, Red and Hybrid imported fire ants, Solenopsis spp.

► Pseudacteon phorid flies use host fire ant chemicals for host location. ► Phorid flies show greater attack preference for Red, Hybrid over Black fire ants. ► Size difference among different ant species contribute to difference in EAG response. ► Phorid flies are equally attracted to extracts of Black, Red and Hybrid fire ants. ► Phorid flies cannot differentiate non-polar chemicals from closely related fire ants.
