Metabolic scaling in insects supports the predictions of the WBE model

(2007) analyzed the scaling of metabolic rate in insects. ► Results suggested a deviation in the slope from the value predicted by WBE model. ► We corrected data and analyzed the scaling of metabolic rate in orders and families. ► Family Termitidae accounts for the deviation in the slope from the predicted slope. ► Scaling of metabolic rate in insects supports the WBE model but more research is needed.
