Resetting the baroreflex during snoring: Role of resistive loading and intra-thoracic pressure

► The contribution of snoring-related resistive loading on BRS depression and baroreflex resetting was examined. ► Peak inspiratory pleural pressures during resistive loading were matched to snoring. ► Snoring and resistive loading resulted in a similar decrease in BRS and baroreflex resetting. ► BRS depression during snoring is likely mediated via heart rate driven changes in baroreflex operating point. ► This may be an outcome of negative intra-thoracic pressure effects on the right atrial wall stretch reflex.
