Amino and carboxyl plasma functionalization of collagen films for tissue engineering applications

► Type I collagen films have been functionalised by plasma treatments on their surfaces. ► Carboxyl and amino groups have been introduced on collagen surfaces. ► Plasma-treated films were characterised by WCA, SEM, AFM, ATR-FTIR. ► MG-63 human osteoblast-like cell proliferation, viability and morphology was assayed.
