Interstratification of trioctahedral and dioctahedral smectites through delamination and costacking

Surfactant-exchanged trioctahedral and dioctahedral smectites were delaminated in 1-octanol and the layers from the two clays were costacked to get composites in which the layers from the two clays are interstratified.
