The effects of different ceramics size and volume fraction on wear behavior of Al matrix composites (for automobile cam material)

► Metal matrix composites were manufactured to determine their tribological properties. ► Unreinforced AA2124 and GGG40 cam samples were also prepared for tribological tests. ► The specific wear resistance of composites (Al-B4C, Al-SiC) is better than GGG40. ► The size of the reinforcing particles has an important effect on the wear rate.
