Improved wear resistance of medium carbon microalloyed bainitic steels

► Dry sliding wear behavior of pearlitic and bainitic steel was performed. ► Two different phases were formed from same steel with appropriate heat treatment. ► Detailed quantitative microscopy and other mechanical testing were carried out. ► Bainite proved to be better wear resistant with better other mechanical properties. ► Bainite showed one order of magnitude less wear volume loss than pearlite.
