Experimental characterization of friction coefficient at the tool-chip-workpiece interface during dry cutting of AISI 1045

► It enables to make characterization under low and very high sliding. ► Apparent friction coefficient is strongly influenced by sliding velocity. ► Heat flux transmitted to the pin is very sensitive to sliding velocity. ► Contact pressure does not lead to significant variations.
