Tribological behaviour of carbide-free bainitic steel under dry rolling/sliding conditions

► Lower austenite content increases wear performance in austempered high-silicon steel. ► Longer test times cause an increase in wear rate. ► The microstructure is deformed and oriented in the sliding direction. ► Rolling contact fatigue racking occurs along the oriented microstructure.
