Benthic pelagic coupling in a shallow oligotrophic ecosystem: Importance of microphytobenthos and physical forcing

► We performed a multidisciplinary study: field survey, laboratory experiments and modelling. ► We performed a field survey indicating that sediments presented negligible nutrient fluxes. ► An experimental ex situ incubations showed that water column BP was not affected by sediment. ► The modelling study showed that the physical forcing enhance the sediment-water column coupling.
