Effects of arbuscular mycorrhizal inoculation on metallophyte and agricultural plants growing at increasing copper levels

► We found a specific compatibility between Cu-adapted AM fungi and metallophytes. ► Helianthus annuus could be used in phytoremediation programs using Cu-adapted AM fungi. ► Glomalin production could be a mechanism of non-Cu-adapted AM fungi to cope high Cu levels.
