Are nests of Constrictotermes cyphergaster (Isoptera, Termitidae) important in the C cycle in the driest area of semiarid caatinga in northeast Brazil?

▶ We evaluated the C stock in the nests of C. cyphergaster in arid environment. ▶ The stock of C in the nests was about 0.6% of that in the plant aboveground biomass. ▶ O C stock annually in the nests is about 16% of the C stock in the nests. ▶ Nests of C. cyphergaster are important to C cycling in arid environment.
