Circle hooks: Developing better fishing practices in the artisanal longline fisheries of the Eastern Pacific Ocean

► We analyzed the performance of circle hooks in longline fisheries of the Eastern Pacific. ► Different sizes of circle hooks were tested to different target species. ► Circle hooks reduced sea turtle hooking rates in most of the fisheries analyzed. ► The results for target species were not consistent for all fisheries and countries. ► Results best support fishery/regionally-specific management approaches.
