Commercial harvesting of Ficus timber - An emerging threat to frugivorous wildlife and sustainable forestry

► We describe the extent of Ficus timber harvesting and trade in the Neotropics. ► Annually extracted volumes of Ficus timber have increased. ► Negative effects on sustainable timber yields and wildlife maintenance are expected. ► We suggest that commercial timber harvesting of Ficus needs to be re-assessed.
